This experimental edition of King Horn is under development by Scott Kleinman for the Early Middle English Society. It is based on that of Joseph Hall, available at Google Books or the Internet Archive. The text has been processed with optical character recognition (OCR) to convert the images to editable text. Some editorial punctuation and capitalisation has been added or deleted, and some OCR errors remain. In addition, the line numbers are generated automatically, so the texts do not line up exactly. If you are forming any important conclusions based on these texts, make sure you double check the readings in the Hall edition.
The three surviving manuscripts of King Horn
For a quick description of the three manuscripts, see the introduction to the online TEAMS edition.
To use this site, click on one of the manuscripts in the menu above to view the text of that manuscript. You may also view all three manuscripts side by side. Click "Home" to return to this page. There is also a link to an experimental version in HTML 5. It looks great, but so far it only seems to work in FireFox version 4.
