The Digital humanities subject never really seemed as important to me as it does now due to how much I am realizing the act of reading books in their entirety and writing descriptively are going extinct. From “The Theory of the Virtual Class” the digital natives can find any information through the click of a button and that makes our world move more fast pace but also it increases the chances of a lot of information being missed or overlooked. Texts on the internet are more brief and ‘precise’ but may not hold a lot of ground when it comes to actually learning things. The digital natives feel that grasping information at a quick speed speaks on a whole other level of obtaining and retaining knowledge having it at your fingertips. I beg to differ from this idea, because I feel that reading books and making your own interpretation hold a lot more value rather than looking up sparknotes online or reading and posting things on wikipedia that may not hold any substance or relevance to the actual topic. The digital humanities path holds a lot of positives as far as obtaining information quickly but also may be actively contributing to making our generation and coming generations a lot dumber.
