Kroker and Weinstein’s examination of the threats of the digital world is one that is expressed through, “for the virtual class, politics is about absolute control over intellectual property by means of war-like strategies of communication, control and command” (145). Youtube, blogs, webcams-posting vlogs online for the world to hear and see has direct relation with this quote, it is the act of freedom and expression that drives our society to want to gain power and control.

Yes, the internet and all these web platforms have allowed us to express ourselves but at the same time, what does it all really mean? Does it really help us, does it really give us an advantage in the way the world works? Or do these forums set us back and shortchange our intellect?

The “The Theory of Virtual Class” essay expresses the argument that the digital superhighway is “not an open telematic autoroute for fast circulation across the electronic galaxy, but an immensely seductive harvesting machine for delivering bodies, culture, and labor to virtualization. The information highway is paved with (our) flesh…” (147). Although humans haven’t evolved enough to become one with machinery, it suggests that our generation and the generations to come are on their way there. I don’t know what’s to come but I know that technology and human intellect and labor will soon combine efforts.
